The Association was formed in 1954 and has continually offered top quality trout and grayling fishing on the River Blyth in Northumberland
Although the club promotes fly fishing, bait fishing and spinning are also allowed on some stretches at particular times of the year. With good stocks of both trout and grayling, it is possible for members to fish our stretches of the River Blyth from late March until the end of January.
For much of its length the river flows alongside tree lined banks which provide a good source of terrestrial insects for the trout and grayling. The Mayfly hatches in late May and early June are always looked forward to by club members, sometimes just to sit and watch this spectacular sight.
Waders and a shorter fly fishing rod of about 7' to 8½' would be about right to take full advantage of the challenges offered by the different stretches of this beautiful river.
For prospective members who are new to river fishing or fishing in general, introductory sessions are available and tuition can be given by appointment
